12 Tags of Christmas 2015 - Week 12

Whew,  I made it.  My last entry for this challenge was a fun one.  A very vintage looking gate fold card.  You can find all the details for this awesome challenge HERE.  Linda , owner of Funkie Junkie Boutique is the sponsor of this challenge and is offering some great prizes to those that participate.  Be sure to check out her boutique for all your stamping, scrapbooking, mixed media projects.

This weeks tag was a complete Wendy Vecchi inspiration.  I loved the style, but most of all loved the holly stencil and distress techniques used on the inside of the card.

I used 2 Wendy Vecchi stamps for the backgrounds of front and back.  Gotta love those polka dots in Geranium Red!  For the inside, I used Pine Tree Distress Ink pounced through the Holly Stencil.  I used Red Stickles for the holly berries.  The saying is from a Tim Holtz Christmas set.  I cut some holiday greens using the Tim Holtz Die, covered it with Distress Paint in Pine Needles, sprinkled with distress glitter for shimmer.

I hope everyone had a great time seeing the cards I made and learning more about Funkie Junkie.  You really need to check it out to see the great products and amazing prices.  You won't be disappointed!

12 Tags of Christmas 2015 - Week 11

I am really cutting this close....I simply lost track of time finishing up my tags.  I hope I get them in before the deadline.  Here are the details of the challenge:  12 Tags of Christmas 2015.  Linda's boutique, Funkie Junkie Boutique, is sponsoring the challenge as well as offering some great prizes to those that play along.

This weeks tag had such beautiful colors.  That is definitely what inspired me when I was putting the elements of my tag together.  I used Broken China, Tattered Bronze, and Salty Ocean Distress Stains over the Crackle paint background.  I love how the cracks are accentuated by the colors.    I used Tim Holtz's Layered Snowflake die and texture fade for the focal point.  I rubbed Salty Ocean Distress Ink over the high spots of the snowflake and added some sparkle.

12 tags of Christmas 2015 - Week 10

I think week 10 is now my favorite...Gold and White are such a wonderful combination.  I was inspired by everything on Linda's tag this week - so I stuck very close to her design.  Linda, over at Funkie Junkie Boutique, is sponsoring the 12 Tags of Christmas 2015.  The boutique is also awarding some awesome prizes to folks who contribute to all 12 weeks of tags.

I am such a fan of gold and white.  I used texture paste to make the dimensional background.  Everything was really pretty simple.  I cut and texture embossed the snowflake using Tim Holtz Layered Snowflake die and texture fade.  I rubbed embossing ink over the high spots and embossed with Judikins Egyptian Gold embossing Powder.  I had some gold netting in my stash that I crumpled and bunched up under the snowflake.  I also tucked in a little piece of Holiday Greens cut out of shiny gold paper.  Lastly - I used Tim Holtz Holiday Script words to cut out Peace on Earth.  I edged the card with Champagne ink from Encore.

12 Tags of Christmas 2015 - Week 9

We are rockin' and rollin' now.  Only 3 more weeks to go.  I loved, loved this weeks tag.  I am a long time coffee drinker, and the new die cuts by Tim Holtz have been so fun to use.  I definitely used them as my inspiration for this week, although, I pretty much copied her tag completely.  To see Linda's tag, hop on over to her Blog.  Her online shop, Funkie Junkie Boutique, is generously sponsoring this 12 week challenge, and offering amazing prizes as well.  I am having a blast creating each week as well as waiting with anticipation every Monday Morning to see what Linda has created to inspire us.  A BIG shout out of Thanks to Linda!

This card just looks like Christmas Cheer to me.  What better than to celebrate with a Peppermint Mocha.  I followed Linda's example almost completely.  I used the Tim Holtz holiday words stencil and texture paste to make the background.  Once it was dry, I sprayed it with Barn Door and Mowed Lawn Distress Stains.  I also rubbed Treasure Gold over the top for some sparkle.  I cut the mini fresh brewed dies from Coordinations Red cardstock which was sanded to expose some of the craft underneath.  I used some texture paste to simulate whipped cream.  The holly and saying are both from the Tim Holtz collection.

12 Tags of Christmas 2015 - Week 8

Can you believe it's week 8?  I can almost believe I'll catch up :-)  If you don't know by now what I'm talking about - check out the Funkie Junkie Blog for details.  This weeks tag contained many elements I did not have - but I think my improvising worked.  My inspiration from Linda's tag was the 'Believe' license plate.  For me,  Believe is more a part of my faith during this time of year.  We are waiting with anticipation through Advent for the birth of our Savior.

I loved the Wendy Vecchi style of this weeks tag.  I again pulled out several things in my collection that had been completely neglected over the years.  Sometimes I think that's the problem with seasonal items.  They look great, you buy them, but then the season is over and you (okay, ME) forget about them.  This is my first year with Linda's challenge, and I am loving getting out all my stuff and rummaging through for fun items that were long forgotten.

I started with manila cardstock colored with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.  I did a little spritz and flick as well as adding some holly stenciling with Pine Needle DI.  The paper banners were scraps in my box.  The bells were cut from TH mini bells.  I pulled out my Believe license plate stamp by Wendy Vecchi to use as the greeting.  Pretty simple this week, but I'm happy with how it turned out.

Be sure to stop by the Funkie Junkie Boutique to see all they have in stock this holiday season.  They are sponsoring this challenge, and giving away some very fun prizes to folks who enter each week.

12 Christmas Tags of 2015 - Week 7

Merry Christmas....The inspiration is over the top at the Funkie Junkie Blog's 12 Tags of Christmas 2015.  Check it all out HERE.    Each week, Linda, the owner of Funkie Junkie Boutique, posts a new tag to get our inspirational juices flowing.  Our challenge is to pick out what really inspires us, and to make a holiday or winter themed project.  This week - the snowflakes, and shimmering glitter definitely sparked my creativity.

Whoever came up with this color combination is genius!  Silver and Blue..   oh my.  I used Wendy Vecchi's new text stamp as my background.  I blended Broken China and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks over the top.  Then to get some shimmer, I sprayed Pewter Distress stain over the top.  I stamped a few snowflakes and embossed in silver glitter.  The main attraction is my all time favorite - Layered Snowflake by Tim Holtz.  The fun part of this is that it not only comes with the die to cut the snowflake, it also has the coordinating embossing folder.  I sponged the same two colors on the snowflake, and then topped with silver and blue stickles to add some glitter to the top.  The sentiment is cut using Holiday Words Script thinlits.

I hope you are playing along with this challenge too.  Linda, over at Funkie Junkie Boutique, is offering some great prizes to the folks who enter all 12 weeks.  Don't wait - start creating!!

Half way... 12 Tags of Christmas - Week 6

I cannot believe we are half way through the 12 Tags of Christmas 2015 Challenge over at Linda's Funkie Junkie Blog.    Each week she posts a new tag, meant to inspire each of us, to jump in and make a winter or holiday piece of art.  This week, what inspired me the most was the homespun colors and the holly.  I dug into my stash of goodies...and here's what I created.

I started with a piece of Tim Holtz Kraft Resist paper and colored with Pine Needle Distress ink edged with Walnut Stain DI.  The trees are from TH Mini Holiday 2 stamp set.  I added mirrored stars colored with Mushroom Alcohol Ink to the top of the trees.  I love the vintage look of that color.  I topped the card with a little boxwood spray, some holly colored with mowed law and picket fence distress stickles.

This challenge is sponsored by Funkie Junkie Boutique.    Linda is giving out some great prizes for everyone who submits entry for each of the 12 weeks.

12 Tags of Christmas - Week 5

I hope you are coming here from the fun 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge at the Funkie Junkie Blog.   Linda is having a blast making weekly tags for our inspiration.  This week is no exception.  I must admit, I have several things in my 'collection' that have been woefully neglected, ignored, and NEVER used.  Evergreen Bough Distress Ink is one of those items.  As soon as I saw it on this weeks tag, I knew that was my inspiration for my entry.

I inked up my cardstock with Evergreen Bough Distress ink.  Then used the wonderful spritz and flick technique that Tim Holtz has taught us.  I also sprayed some Picket Fence Spray Stain over the top to give it a 'snowy' appearance.  The tree is stamped and die cut using the Tim Holtz Blueprint Tree.  I love that you can add dimension by stamping and having the die cut to match.  Brilliant idea Tim!  The bow is a darling little gift from Linda at the Funkie Junkie Boutique.  She is sponsoring this challenge, and also has the most amazing online shop you will ever find!  Plus...with each order, she includes these wonderful little packages of goodies, always tied with a seasonal colored ribbon.  How fun is that?

12 Tags of Christmas - Week 4

Nothing says Christmas like red and green plaid.  How many of those dresses did you have growing up?  Linda, over at Funkie Junkie Blog is sponsoring the 12 Tags of Christmas 2015, and outdid herself this week with her inspirational tag.  I could not wait to get out my stencil and get that plaid going on my own card.

I used the Tim Holtz Stripe stencil as a 'stamp' to make my plaid.  I first inked it up with Barn Door Distress ink, spritzed with some water, and laid it down on my manila cardstock.  I did the same with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink.  I love the vintage look of the colors and the way the stencil didn't stamp it 'perfect'.  It's hard to see, but I used pewter distress stain spray with the Tim Holtz Holly stencil in the background for some shimmer.  The greens are from TH Holiday Greens dies, colored with Mowed Lawn Distress ink and Picket Fence Distress Stickles.  The flowers are from my favorite source - Wild Orchid Crafts.  The beautiful lace ribbon comes from Really Reasonable ribbon.

Be sure to check out the Funkie Junkie Boutique, who is sponsoring this challenge.  They have amazing prices, and selection of products.

12 Tags of Christmas - Week 3

The time is flying by - so don't get too far behind - Linda over at the Funkie Junkie Blog is already on week 3 of her challenge.    She has all the rules posted, as well as each week's tag for you to use as inspiration.  She's giving away some great prizes from her boutique, who is sponsoring the challenge, so gather up all your supplies and get started!

This week, I didn't really have any of the items she used in her tag, but that's half the fun.  It forces you to look through your 'collection' and see what you might be able to use instead.  I loved the holiday knit die cut that she used this week, and the gold colors again inspired me to search out what I had that I could use.  Woo Hoo - I had the Holiday Knit stencil.

I taped down the stencil over my red cardstock and used the mini blending tool to pounce embossing ink through the stencil.  I used my all-time favorite embossing powder from Judikins - Egyptian gold.  Don't you just love that sparkle?  The holly is Tim Holtz Holiday Greens sprayed with Meadow Color wash and Heirloom Gold.  My flowers - quite an addiction of mine, are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  They have the most amazing flowers in every color combination and style imaginable.  The reindeer is the mini reindeer mover and shaper from - who else - Tim Holtz.  The saying is die cut from a Tim Holtz paper stash.

12 Tags of Christmas - Week 2

Good Morning.  Linda has outdone herself with her week 2 tag.  I love, love, love the Golden Rays!  They were definitely my inspiration to start my card this week.  If you're new to the challenge, here it is:  Funkie Junkie Blog.

I absolutely love the way the golden rays turned out.  I used the Tim Holtz Rays stencil with gold embossing paste.  The 'star' is a snowflake punch I've had forever.  The trees are a Tim Holtz on-the-edge die, Treeline.  It was die cut using Sticky Back Canvas died with Pesto Adirondack color spray.  The stars and greeting are from the new Tim Holtz Holiday rubons.  I think it is just the perfect amount of sparkle and can't wait for one of my friends to open this card when it comes in the mail :-)

The challenge is sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique.  Please stop by and see all the great products and deals that Linda has going on this month!

12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style - Week 1

Wow,  What a fun way to get into the holiday spirit.  Linda, over at the Funkie Junkie Boutique has launched her 12 Tags of Christmas, 2015.  All the details are on her blog HERE.  She will post a new tag for inspiration every Monday through December 14th.  You make your 'take' on it, and share up on her blog.  How cool is that!

Here is my entry for week 1.  I truly loved every bit of her tag, but the inspiration was definitely the color combination of red, green, gold.  Those colors are definitely my traditional go-to Christmas colors.

I used the Tim Holtz Holly stencil and Dreamweaver Gold Embossing Paste (that has been in my hoard FOREVER).  Once that was dried, I spritzed it all over with Pesto Adirondack color wash.  I gave it all a spray of Perfect Pearls Mist in Heirloom gold for just a bit more shimmer.

The poinsettia is Tim Holtz Tattered Poinsettia, colored with Adirondack Cranberry color wash and Heirloom Gold.  The greens are Tim Holtz Holiday Greens sprayed with Lettuce Color Wash and more Heirloom Gold (do you guys use this as much as I do?)

I mixed up the holiday greeting with two different Tim Holtz sets, Holiday Words Script and Block.

I hope you enjoyed my first entry.  Please think about playing along - Linda is giving away some great prizes.  Please visit Linda's Boutique, Funkie Junkie Boutique, for great products, prices, and inspiration!
